Nottingham 24-38 Worcester Warriors

Worcester extended their lead at the top of the Championship as two tries from Andy Goode helped them secure a comfortable victory at Meadow Lane.

Fly-half Goode crossed twice in the first half and skipper Kai Horstmann also went over to give Warriors a commanding 19-9 lead at the break.

Second half scores came from Jonny Arr, Pat Sanderson and Ollie Frost.

Nottingham fought back in the closing minutes with scores from Ben Johnson, Tom Jackson and Andy Savage.

Worcester rang the changes after opening up a 31-9 lead, and also had wing Marcel Garvey yellow carded after kicking the ball away from a ruck.

Head coach Richard Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester the points conceded at the end were the only blot on Warriors' copy-book.

"We eased up a little bit and Nottingham, with a bit of loose possession and tempo, came back and scored three tries," said Hill.

"That is slightly disappointing, but not a bad thing for a coach. You always want something to moan about on Monday and Tuesday, and we know we are not perfect yet.

"I thought it was a very professional display. It would have been very easy to come and produce a sloppy performance because we have won the league already.

"But I was delighted that the players really got up for the game.

"They prepared well and produced a really good performance, particularly in the first half when we didn't let Nottingham into the game.

"Our thoughts are turning towards March 12th and those play-off games. It looks 99% certain that we will face Nottingham so we know we have got to come back here."

Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's hard to play when you haven't got the football.

"At half time I think they had made about 10 tackles and we had made 50.

"We didn't even get within 15 metres of their line [in the first half]. We took three penalties and that was all we had been able to muster.

"They held the ball for long periods and there was sustained pressure on our line and a team as good as Worcester are going to score tries."
