Cipriani scored seven points in a 19-17 defeat to Racing Metro last time out |
Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani has pulled out of the England Saxons squad for Sunday's match against Ireland A after suffering a family bereavement. "Danny has the full support of the Saxons coaches and management through this difficult time," read a Rugby Football union statement. The 22-year-old returned to action in December after two months out with a fracture of his right fibula. Northampton's Shane Geraghty will start at stand-off for the match in Bath. Leicester's Ben Youngs completes the second-string side's half-back pairing and will link up with the senior squad next week in preparation for the Six Nations. After initially impressing when making his debut against Wales in February 2008, Cipriani fell out of international favour after a string of high-profile errors. A dislocation of his right ankle in May 2009 destroyed his hopes of making the summer's British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa. Since recovering from his latest injury, Cipriani has started Wasps' last three matches in his favoured fly-half position.
