Nottingham rugby club chairman Geoff Huckstep is stepping down after two years in the post and handing over to his deputy Alistair Bow. The Green & Whites have suffered a traumatic year after revealing severe financial pressures in late 2008. Huckstep has played a key role in ensuring the club's survival but said he should now "stand aside". "After two challenging years in the post and with 2009 drawing to a close, the time is now right," Huckstep said. "At this time last year we were facing a very uncertain future, having like so many other small businesses, been the victim of the credit crunch and economic recession. "However, the magnificent response of our supporters, sponsors and corporate partners - including the three local authorities who answered our 'call to arms', helped raise the funds necessary for the club not only to complete the season, but importantly to look further ahead. "It enables us to build a sustainable future as part of the new Championship league for season 2009/10 and beyond."
