A late fightback was not enough to prevent Blackheath going down to a 39-18 defeat by National One league leaders Esher on Saturday. Trailing 39-3 after 45 minutes, a crushing defeat looked on the cards, but the Blackheath tested the home side with a spirited second-half display. Elsewhere, there were defeats for both Canterbury and Westcombe Park, who now lie seventh and eighth respectively in National Two South. Meanwhile, Gravesend beat Beckenham to maintain their 100% record in London One South, while Tonbridge Juddians also kept their perfect record intact with a 45-3 win over Purley John Fisher.
