Morgan relieved by EPS selection

Olly Morgan
Olly Morgan joined the Cherry and Whites straight from Millfield School.

Gloucester full-back Olly Morgan is relieved to have made England's senior Elite Player Squad for 2009/10.

The 23-year-old, who won both his caps in 2007, has been retained alongside London Irish's Delon Armitage.

Morgan told BBC Gloucestershire: "I'm pleased to be in it because I haven't played at all and I was sceptical about whether I would be demoted or not.

"Delon's taken his chance and played every international. I've just got to bide my time really."

Morgan finished the season by playing every minute of Gloucester's last eight matches. But that did not translate into representative rugby this summer.

"I was frustrated with the summer tour not to get any game time whatsoever," he added.

"But I've been patient enough with the injuries I've had and I've now got to be patient over selection.

"I've done all that has been asked of me, and it's nice to know that England have confidence in me that, if the full-back place is vacant, they think I am capable of filling it."

He is one of two Gloucester players in the 32-man squad along with Mike Tindall.
