Redpath unfazed by Narraway fall

Luke Narraway is not in England's senior Elite Player Squad due to a dip in form, says his club coach at Gloucester, Bryan Redpath.

Narraway is in the Saxons squad with Nick Wood, while Mike Tindall and Olly Morgan are in the senior party.

"Nick is pushing on the fringes and Luke's slipped down the pecking order a bit," Redpath told BBC Gloucestershire.

"He's fallen off form a bit and needs a good pre-season to get himself another chance, then performances are key."

James Simpson-Daniel was in the senior squad 12 months ago, but has been left out of both 32-man squads this time.

After being out for three months in with an ankle ligament injury, he finished the 2008/09 campaign with a torn pectoral muscle.

If you want to get in these things, you've got to perform for your club.

Redpath had some sympathy for the gifted three-quarter.

"He's an unlucky man, James," added Redpath. "But that should be his main drive through his whole career to prove people wrong.

"James and Mike Tindall who had niggles at the end of the season have had four or five weeks' pre-season training already so they've got a heads-up.

"The challenge lies with them. If you want to get in these things, you've got to perform for your club."
