Ben Foden's 67th minute try, converted by Charlie Hodgson, helped Sale beat Saracens with a bonus point for each.

Sale put in a strong second-half display with Rory Lamont and Lee Thomas also going over to add to Richard Wigglesworth's first-half score.

Kevin Yates and Sakiusa Matadigo had both scored tries to give Saracens a four-point interval lead.

Glen Jackson gave the visitors hope with a second-half try but Hodgson and Lamont led the home side to the win.

"That was Lamont's first game and he showed that he is a special talent. He was third choice last year for Scotland but he has become an even better player here at Sale.

"It's very pleasing that we won and there's a lot of young players who are improving all the time.

"The likes of Ben Foden and Lee Thomas again did very well, but all 22 players deserve credit."

"We had two decent opportunities at the end but we didn't take them.

"They took their opportunities very well but to concede four tries isn't particularly good, and we are not happy with that at all because they were mainly from our own mistakes."
