Gloucester maintained their 100% start to the Premiership season with victory over Sale to stay five points clear.
Sale opened the scoring with a try from debutant prop Benoit Bourrust, but four Ryan Lamb penalties turned the tide.
A second score from wing Oriol Ripol, converted by Charlie Hodgson, sent the sides in level at 12-12 at half-time.
But two tries from wing Leon Lloyd in the opening six minutes of the second half took Gloucester clear before Olly Morgan's try sealed the outcome.
Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan:
"That was our poorest performance so far. Had we played better it was an opportunity for a bonus point. "It wasn't a bad wake-up call for us. In the first half we did a lot of things which were about the individual rather than about the team.
"When we addressed that in the second half we looked quite sharp."
Sale coach Kingsley Jones:
"I was pleased with our defence towards the end because we desperately didn't want to let Gloucester get the bonus point. But we were always second best. "We've shown we can win without our World Cup players.
"But we missed them today because against Gloucester you need to go forward and we weren't good enough."
