Departing Wasps coach Warren Gatland has urged the club's board to finalise his replacement as soon as possible. The New Zealander announced he was leaving the London club back in February but as yet no announcement has been made regarding his successor.
"The board have taken too long in... appointing someone and that needs to be done as quickly as possible," he told Wasps' telephone news service.
"The person who is coming in needs to find his feet."
Gatland fears that the delay could affect the club as they bid for success next season.
"There are a few decisions that need to be made, with regards to whether players stay and whether we recruit a few players," he added.
"The new man needs to be involved in those decisions, not me."
Wasps missed out on signing former All Blacks coach John Mitchell, who has decided to take the head coach's job with the new Perth Super 14 team.
Former Scotland coach Ian McGeechan has also been linked with the job although Gatland's assistant Shaun Edwards is favourite to take over.
And Gatland believes that former New Zealand club coach of the year Leon Holden could play an important part in Wasps' future.
"Leon was spoken to in terms of possibly coming in to help and support the club," he said.
"He has not coached at the top level, but he has been successful at the levels he has coached at."
