Fly-half Gordon Ross guided Leeds to their first win of the season as he kicked 19 points at Saracens. The home side were 10-0 down after only 13 minutes, with Tom Biggs crossing early on for the visitors.
Saracens hit back when Paul Bailey went over and Nicky Little converted, but Ross had Leeds 19-7 ahead by half-time.
South African centre Andre Snyman got Leeds' vital score in the 74th minute, and a Little try in the seventh minute of injury time could not save Sarries.
Former England full-back Tim Stimpson - sidelined by a knee injury since his close season signing from French club Perpignan - made his Leeds debut as a second-half replacement.
Saracens head coach Rod Kafer says his side are struggling to live up to their opening day win over champions Wasps.
"Part of our problem at the moment is we are still living off that first day's experience of beating Wasps," said Kafer. "But that was four weeks ago now and it's no good us thinking how good we were that day.
"It's a matter of rolling up our sleeves and getting into hard graft."
Leeds director of coaching Phil Davies was delighted to see his side finally get their first win of the season.
"We have had a tough start but I always knew there was quality in the whole group," said Davies.
"We have been working very hard and I thought it was only a matter of time before the win came.
"What was good was the momentum we were generating in the game through our ball retention."
