Reigning champions Wasps secured their first win of the season thanks to a hard-fought triumph at Headingley. After the pair traded early penalties, Wasps prop Will Green took advantage of Tom Voyce's break to cross for the only try on 15 minutes.
Gordon Ross kicked his second penalty on 20 minutes but Wasps flanker Lawrence Dallaglio fired over a 25-metre drop goal to make the score 13-6.
Another penalty put Leeds in contention but the second half stayed scoreless.
The Tykes started the game at a ferocious pace and their early pressure gave Ross a second-minute penalty only for Alex King to reply 10 minutes later.
Ross missed a chance to land another three points and Wasps made Leeds pay when Tom Voyce made an incisive break down the left wing.
Green produced a tremendous turn of pace to stay in support and was able to take the inside pass to cross over.
Ross kept his side in touch with his second penalty but Dallaglio silenced the Headingley crowd with an audacious drop goal on the half-hour mark.
However it was his last contribution as he went off three minutes later with a rib injury.
Ross made it 13-9 with a penalty just before the break for the last score of the night.
The second half was a scrappy affair but Wasps centre Peter Richards was able to make a series of breaks in an impressive display.
Leeds piled on the pressure in the closing stages but lacked the precision to break down the Wasps defence while Ross missed his third kick of the match.
Leeds coach Phil Davies struggled to hide his disappointment after the loss left his side still looking for their first win of the season.
"I'm disappointed with the players to be honest. We put in a lot of hard work this week and lots of positive things were put in place," he said.
"We had opportunities to win the game and obviously Gordon Ross missing three penalties did not help.
"There were more positives than in the past two games but maybe a point is all we deserve to get out of the match."
For Wasps however, coach Warren Gatland says the win could kick-start their season.
"It's always tough to come up here and we're delighted with this result. It could be the catalyst for our season," he said.
