 Worcester's promotion celebrations may have been premature |
Rotherham have launched legal proceedings to block Worcester's promotion to the Zurich Premiership. The National League One champions are to replace the relegated Titans in the top flight next term.
But Rotherham claimed Worcester failed to meet a 31 March deadline for satisfying Premiership criteria and have begun action in the High Court.
England Rugby Limited have denied Rotherham's claims, whose application hearing will take place on 23 August.
A statement from England Rugby said: "ERL believes that it has a strong defence to the claims brought by Rotherham RFC and the application for summary judgement will be vigorously defended."
Worcester are due to kick-off their inaugural Premiership campaign against Newcastle on 4 September.
