Schmid led Esher to the top of the Championship relegation pool

Esher coach Mike Schmid has retained 13 members of his squad for next season.

Backs Arran Cruickshanks, Andy Garner, Geoff Griffiths, Jonny Hylton, Jamie Mackenzie, Clive Stuart-Smith and Sam Ulph have all signed new deals.

Forwards Dave Millard, Ricky Nebbett, Paul Barker, Matt Symons, Sam Stitcher and Shawn Renwick will also remain at Molesey Road.

However centre Seb Jewell and wing Gerard Mullen have joined London Welsh, while Mike Whitehead joins Doncaster.

The Surrey side survived relegation from the Championship last season, but Schmid is aiming higher next year.

"We know we need to add some strength in depth in certain areas," he said.

"We have got to improve on and off the field next season if we are to achieve that top-eight spot."
