Delaney's Nottingham side have won their last five games |
Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney says they want to make the city proud as they begin their Championship play-off campaign this weekend. The Green and Whites play the first of six group games at London Welsh on Saturday lunchtime. Delaney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "A key thing for us is that we want to do the club and the city proud. "We are representing Nottingham in the Championship play-offs for the right to be in the Premiership." Nottingham finished fifth in the Championship this season, one place and four points behind London Welsh. But the Green and Whites got the upper hand when the two sides met in the league three weeks ago, as they won 22-13 at Old Deer Park. Despite that recent success, Delaney believes it will be a totally different game on Saturday. "They saw us three weeks ago and we managed to get a win down there," he added. "They won't be underestimating us this time and they will have prepared very well for us. "Maybe they took us a bit lightly last time, so we have to raise our game significantly. "That's the challenge for us and we have got to be a lot better than three weeks ago to get near them. "We are looking to keep that fast tempo approach that has served us well all season."
