Esher coach Mike Schmid says they must play without fear to make the promotion play-offs in the Championship.

Schmid's side, who currently lie 10th, boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with their 13-12 victory over Cornish Pirates on Saturday.

He told BBC Surrey: "We've got nothing to lose and everything to gain by winning the next two games.

"If we win there's hope we get out of the bottom four. All we can control is what's next in front of us."

Schmid praised his players following the victory over the Pirates, who had beaten his side 54-6 in the reverse meeting in October.

"It was a great result," he said. "I thought we grew in character throughout the game and I'm immensely proud.

"To a man, we couldn't have given any more. You could see the desire and commitment out there."

Esher travel to Doncaster Knights on Saturday, before finishing the league programme at home to Moseley.
