Hill will rotate his 33 players for league and cup games. |
Worcester head coach Richard Hill says his team will redouble their efforts to overcome fixture congestion in The Championship and British and Irish Cup. Warriors will have to field sides for three first-team and one 'A' team games next week after Saturday's match at Doncaster was called off. But Hill insists the Championship leaders will not ease off in the Cup. "We will still be taking the cup very seriously and plan to play strong sides against Newport and Currie," he said. Warriors will have to utilise their sizable squad in a week when they face Newport on Saturday, 11 December, an A team match against Sale two days later, the re-arranged Doncaster game on the Wednesday and then travel to Currie on Friday 17. "We have real strength in depth in the squad to deal with this, " Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester. | Our strength and conditioning team and our medical department have worked very hard to make sure we can cope Worcester Warriors coach Richard Hill |
"It will also create a real competitive environment with everyone out to impress before the Boxing Day fixture with Moseley. "I will sit down with Phil Davies over the next few days and draw up our provisional selection for all the games and look at how we are going to tackle this fixture list. "Fortunately all the players in the squad have been kept in really good shape and the rotation system we have used is now very valuable indeed. "There was always a danger of games being lost at this time of year and midweek rearranged games with no free weekends." Apart from long-term injuries to Chris Pennell and Jake Abbott, Hill has all his players available. "We have 33 players, out of a squad of 35 we are working with, fully fit and we will do everything we can to send the strongest squads into the cup games as well as out rearranged game with Doncaster. "Our strength and conditioning team and our medical department have worked very hard to make sure we can cope with this kind of scenario."
