Gillanders started his career at Leicester Tigers |
Bedford Blues forward Gregor Gillanders feels he has found his niche as the club's number six. The 22-year-old has been used across the park since arriving at the Blues in 2008, but showed his quality on the flank in Saturday's win over Moseley. He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I like playing six, but it's nice to have the versatility that I can play at eight or even second row if needs be. "But I do enjoy playing at six, it's where I'm most comfortable." The former England Under-20 international got himself among the points with a try late on in the 41-12 victory over the Midlands side. "Anything I can score is a bonus to be honest, but it's the guy with the pass we talk about," he said. | Second would be a good result for us... we can beat anybody on our day we feel Bedford's Gregor Gillander |
"It's not the guy who scores, the work that goes into making that score is almost more important than the actual person who scores." Mike Rayer's men are up to second in the Championship table and have only been beaten once this season, a run of form Gillanders hopes they can maintain. "Second would be a good result for us, obviously you've got Worcester up at the top who have the resources and that kind of thing," he added. "Then again we go out and aim to win the next game and we can beat anybody on our day we feel." Bedford have to wait less than three weeks for a top of the table clash with Worcester, but must first travel to Bristol on Sunday.
