Hull says individual errors are costing Bristol dear

Bristol head coach Paul Hull branded his side's performance "unacceptable" after watching them crash to their third consecutive Championship defeat.

Bristol were hoping to get their season back on track at home to Doncaster Knights on Sunday, but lost 26-12.

"Some of the stuff we saw out there was unacceptable," Hull told BBC Bristol.

"When we started, we more or less gifted them 14 points. When you do that, whether you're away or at home, you're going to struggle - and we did."

After reaching the play-off final last season, Bristol have failed to make any impact on the new campaign and currently lie 10th out of 12 in the division.

"There's a lot of soul searching in that changing room," added Hull. "At half-time, some very harsh words were said and once again at the end of the game - and a few players voiced their opinions as well.

"It's a terrible place to be following two home defeats - three all together - and, yes, I'm very angry but trying to control my emotions.

"Individual mistake are costing us. We keep saying we have to learn but it's hard to stomach those errors."

Hull promised that everyone at the club desperately wants to spark a change of fortunes at The Memorial Stadium. "The only thing you can do in these situations is analyse the game, talk through those mistakes and make sure we work harder.

His sentiments were echoed by centre Junior Fatialofa.

"The boys are dejected and a tad embarrassed," he said. "We have a lot of young guys in this team but it's up to us older experienced guys, who have probably been involved in losses like this before, to set some standards at training now, get the attitude right.

"We're not going to play like that ever again."

Bristol's next Championship fixture is away to Moseley on September 18.
