Jersey beat Shelford by one point to start their first season in National Two with an away win. The island side had to come from behind more than once to clinch the victory, with two tries for newcomer Nathan Hannay and one from George Dixon. A Dan Hawkes penalty completed Jersey's scoring, but coach Ben Harvey accepted it was not a great performance. "To come away with a win and play badly is terrific," he told BBC Jersey. "All in all though a decent day." Jersey play their first home match on Saturday, 11 September, with Worthing the visitors.
