Play-off defeat spurs on Bristol for Plymouth match
Pennycook scored Bristol's only try in the defeat to Bedford
Disappointment at losing to Bedford has given Bristol an extra edge for Friday's encounter against Plymouth, according to flanker Redford Pennycook.
Paul Hull's side lost out by a point having been 17-3 down at half-time.
"We'll be going all guns blazing for them, it should be a good match," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"Plymouth are renowned for their pack and their driving and mauling game. It'll be a battle but all the boys will be up for it."
Bristol are currently sitting in third place in Pool A of the play-offs, having beaten Cornish Pirates in their first match before losing out to Bedford at the weekend.
They have struggled at times to match their form in the regular season, when they went on a thirteen game unbeaten run, and Pennycook knows they have to step up another gear.
"We do have to finish off our chances when we get into the 22, put them under pressure and come away with some points," he said.
"We can't afford another funny ten minutes like we had against Bedford when we conceded 14 points.
"We might have got away with it in the league but not in the play-offs where everyone is upping their game by 20 to 30%."
