Locke played for England Students against Scotland Students |
Exeter Chiefs have signed versatile centre Drew Locke from Championship strugglers Coventry. The 23-year-old, who played for England Students whilst at Northumbria University, is also a former member of Northampton Saints academy. Chiefs' head coach Rob Baxter described Locke as having a "lot of potential." He added: "Drew has an opportunity to work hard in training and show us that he can make a positive contribution to this club's progress." Coventry are currently second-bottom in the Championship standings and have had to endure financial trouble this season, with the club coming out of a spell in administration last week. Locke said: "It has been a tough time as I thought I would end up without a club. "The last few months have been quite distressing just because we have not been getting paid, but this was my first year at Coventry and they gave me my chance." The Chiefs return to Championship action on Saturday, with an away fixture at Rotherham.
