Bristol won their first British and Irish Cup tie, outscoring Neath by two tries to one at The Gnoll. A converted try from back row forward Iain Grieve and a Chris Ashwin penalty gave Bristol a 10-3 half-time lead. Neath hit back in the second-half with a Kevin Farrell try and an Arwel Thomas penalty to take an 11-10 lead. But a second try from replacement scrum-half Sam Alford and a further penalty from fly-half Ashwin allowed Bristol to take the spoils.
