Delaney has almost finalised his squad for next season
Nottingham Rugby Club have announced that forward Sam McDonald has signed a new one-year contract at Meadow Lane.
The 21-year-old was not a first-team regular last season but is moving position to prop from the second row.
Director of rugby Glenn Delaney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Sam's going through a conversion process.
"He's spending some time at my old club in New Zealand learning the role of a prop. He's a big guy and getting the technical side downloaded is the key."
Delaney has also expressed his delight at being drawn against Irish giants Munster in the newly formed British and Irish Cup.
Nottingham are in pool B along with Coventry, Bristol, Heriot's and Neath, as well as the Irish League Champions.
Delaney said: "I think we've got the toughest pool and that's fine, we don't mind that.
"The game against Munster will be played outside the international window so it's not going to be us up against Paul O'Connell and his mates.
"As nice as that would be as an experience, I think playing the full Munster side would be a step too far for us at this point in time, but it will be a tough challenge."
