Lowestoft boss sad at racism row

Rugby

Lowestoft and Yarmouth first team manager Matt Jary is saddened by the racism row surrounding his side's Junior Vase semi-final with Liskeard.

Liskeard-Looe face an RFU disciplinary panel after being charged with printing racist jokes in their programme.

Liskeard could be thrown out of the Vase, meaning they would miss out on a trip to Twickenham in May.

"It's a shame that if that was to occur that'd we'd go through the back door," Jary told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I'm flabbergasted that they've printed anything like this that the general public, and a lot of kids were there, would want to see.

"But at the end of the day rules are rules and etiquette is etiquette."

Jary said he was "amazed" at the charge after his team had been so well hosted by the Cornish club.

"There wasn't any untoward comments and we all went out with the players and management afterwards. They were a very accommodating and gracious side," added Jary.

"I was amazed, I couldn't praise Liskeard highly enough."
