A last-gasp try from Leeds Carnegie prop Philip Swainstop broke Birmingham & Solihull hearts in the quarter-final of the EDF National Trophy. Bees had defied the odds to run in three second-half tries to lead their higher division opponents 24-12. But two tries in the last six minutes levelled the scores before Alfredo Di Bernardo's stoppage time conversion won it for the National One leaders 26-24. Rod Petty, Cameron Mitchell, Simon Hunt and Reece Spee were Bees' try scorers. Australian Petty was the first player to cross the Leeds Carnegie line in this season's National Trophy. And, in 100 per cent Leeds' 23 unbeaten league run this season, no opposition team has run in four tries. Bees will now refocus their efforts on promotion from National Two, returning to action on Saturday at Westcombe Park (7 March, 1400 GMT).
