Luctonians picked up their 11th win in the league |
Paul Hulland struck twice for Luctonians in their march towards the Midlands One title. Lucs won 17-12 at Kettering, with their title rivals Broadstreet suffering defeat at Peterborough. Luctonians are now three points ahead although Broadstreet still have a game in hand. Malvern's efforts to avoid relegation were not helped as they went down 14-6 at Newport, and they remain second-bottom above Bedford Athletic. Luctonians came from behind twice after Paul Sumner and Corey Rainbow had put Kettering in front. Hullands' first try came when the Lucs pack drove him over with Andy Garrod converting. Garrod struck again with a penalty only for the home side to regain the lead, but Hulland broke from a scrum to grab victory. First-half tries from Wikus Van Staden and Ben Warrilow had Malvern trailing at Newport. Junior French international Nicolas Gyucha kicked two penalties to keep Malvern in the hunt, but it was as close as they came.
