Luctonians are still top of Midlands One despite their shock home defeat

Midlands One leaders Luctonians made a poor return to action with a shock 8-0 home defeat to South Leicester.

After a month without a game, Lucs needed to regain their form and momentum, but South Leicester had not read the script and spoilt the party.

They scored the only try of the game just before half time, centre Keiran Collins going over for the only try.

Mark Lord added a penalty and, despite having the wind at their backs after the break, Lucs made too many mistakes.

Lucs are still league leaders but cannot afford too many more slip-ups.

Only one point separates them from Broadstreet who, having been in EDF National Trophy action on Saturday, now have a game in hand.

The Coventry side's visit to Mortimer Park in February could well prove the match that decides the destination of this year's Midlands One league championship.

Luctonians are away at Kettering in Midlands One on Saturday January 24. There will be updates on the game on BBC Hereford and Worcester.
