Fourie was replaced at half-time on his first start since returning from injury |
Leeds Carnegie are sweating over the fitness of flanker Hendre Fourie. The South African hurt his knee against London Welsh on Sunday, his first start since returning from a hand injury. Director of rugby Andy Key told BBC Radio Leeds: "He fell a little bit awkwardly and may have just tweaked the medial ligaments. "We'll find out how serious it is over the next 48 hours. With injuries like this, sometimes they can turn out to be not as bad as first feared." Leeds scored two tries in the last two minutes to snatch a winning bonus point against London Welsh.
The late surge meant Leeds restored their eight-point lead over Exeter at the top of National One. Key said: "We knew London Welsh would give as a massive test and that they had become an even better side from earlier in the season. "We tried to play a wide open game and it didn't really work. "So we changed to go through the middle and that brought much more success. "We have massive belief in ourselves and we knew if we could up the tempo at the end we could still get the four tries. "It takes 80, if not 85, minutes to win a game sometimes now."
