On-loan defender Richard Naylor scored his first goal for Leeds
Leeds United manager Simon Grayson says he is happy to keep grinding out results as long as it leads to the club being promoted.
Leeds beat Southend 2-0 at Elland Road on Tuesday to move to within three points of the League One play-offs.
Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds: "It's all about winning matches and whether you play free-flowing football or not, it doesn't really matter.
"I am delighted we got the result and ultimately that's what it's all about."
Goals from Rui Marques and Richard Naylor put Leeds in control inside the opening 11 minutes against a depleted Southend side and the home side could have gone on to win by a bigger margin.
"I thought we started the game ever so well, got the two goals and from then on it's a game that's tinged with a little bit of disappointment because I thought we took our foot off the gas a little bit," Grayson said.
"We didn't do the right things and we gave them the opportunity to try and get back into the game when really we should have killed the game off. It should have been a game where we won by four or five with the chances we had.
"We still had reminders when they hit the post and a few other breaks when we got a little bit sloppy.
"We've got to build on the negatives and not overlook the fact that we gave them one or two chances because I've set myself and the team high standards.
"Maybe against another team and on another day we might have been punished," he added.
"We've won the match, got another clean sheet and we've won three on the trot and ultimately that's all that matters."
