Skipper sees red in Moseley loss

Nathan Bressington
Nathan Bressington's second-half try was slim consolation for Moseley

Moseley captain Neil Mason was sent off as his side slipped to a 53-20 loss at promotion-chasing Leeds Carnegie.

The flanker was shown a second yellow card just after half time, referee Mark Wilson deciding he had taken out an airborne opponent.

The visitors were already trailing 29-6 at the interval, a brace of Ollie Thomas penalties the only high notes.

Second-half tries from Nathan Bressington and Mark Evans at least served as some consolation.

Thomas added the two conversions, enabling Moseley to become the first visiting team to chalk up 20 points at Headingley this season.

But Leeds ran in eight tries, Jon Goodridge grabbing four of them.

The defeat means the men from Billesley Common slip to 11th in National League One, the last position to guarantee safety for next season when the league is reduced to 12 clubs.

And the fixture list does not ease up for Moseley, who must now travel to sixth-placed Bedford on Friday evening (1945 GMT).
