Shelford feeling confident - Dann

Rugby

Shelford fly-half Tommy Dann has said confidence is high within the squad following their excellent start in London Division One this season.

The south Cambridge side are undefeated so far this season and currently top the table by three points.

Dann told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's a good place to be at the moment, on top with a three point cushion.

"We've had a flying start every game, everyone's playing well and enjoying it, there are smiles on the faces."

The former Cambridge and Blackheath man has struggled with injury so far this term, but has been back with the first-team in recent matches.

With the club having made such a strong start to the campaign, he believes it will be hard for any side to catch them.

"We played against Barnes two weeks ago, who were in second place and we gave them a very comprehensive thumping," he said.

"Our trouble is not about us being unable to beat sides, it'll just be how we turn up on the day."

Shelford travel to Cornwall this weekend for a clash with Wadebridge Camels, a place at which Dann has never previously played.

"I don't know too much about camels apart that they spit if you get too close," he said.

"I once went past their ground on a surfing trip, it doesn't look particularly nice, so it will be tough."
