Cambridge's eight-match unbeaten run came to an end as Robbie Lawton secured a narrow Altrincham victory.

Lawton netted the only goal of a lively encounter on the stroke of half time from 25 yards.

Colin Little tested Cambridge goalkeeper Danny Potter inside the first minute, before Mark Beesley fired over three times for the visitors.

Beesley wasted Cambridge's best chance as Andrew Ralph tipped his left-footed strike round the post.
