Ex-England boss Robinson now has a say in Scottish selection |
Ex-England coach Andy Robinson, now in charge at Edinburgh, and Glasgow counterpart Sean Lineen will help pick the Scotland team for November's tests. The duo were part of Scotland head coach Frank Hadden's set-up during his team's summer tour to Argentina. "I believe it's important the men who see the players on a daily basis are involved in selection," said Hadden. Robinson was sacked as England coach in 2006 after just over two years in charge, having lost 13 out of 22 games. Scotland will face New Zealand, South Africa and Canada in November. Glasgow boss Lineen was born in Auckland and learned his rugby in New Zealand before moving to Scotland. "I will also be tapping into Sean's intimate knowledge of New Zealand rugby and making use of his experience in that regard during the Autumn Tests," said Hadden. "Sean will also be involved as a specialist coach, much like Duncan Hodge, our kicking analyst, during the Autumn games." | MY SPORT: DEBATE |
Hadden had revamped his coaching set-up following a disappointing Six Nations campaign last season. And, with former Scotland international Lineen and ex-England boss Robinson having joined the backroom staff, the Scots went on to record their first Test match win in Argentina. Then, last month, former All Blacks captain Mike Brewer was appointed forwards coach, while former Ireland assistant Graham Steadman became defence coach.
