Scotland coach Frank Hadden has called up seven uncapped players to his first training squad for the autumn Tests.

Glasgow quartet Max Evans, Moray Low, Dan Turner and Mark McMillan get the chance to press for inclusion against New Zealand, South Africa and Canada.

Edinburgh duo Geoff Cross and Calum McRae and Newcastle fly-half Stephen Jones are also in the 50-man pool.

Winger Sean Lamont returns to the fold after missing the Six Nations with a knee ligament injury.

Centre Evans and prop Cross were on the summer tour to Argentina, while prop Low was denied the chance of facing the Pumas due to injury.

Centre MacRae, scrum-half McMillan, lock Turner and Jones were part of the Scotland A squad that reached the final of the Churchill Cup.

"The purpose of this squad session is really two-fold; firstly to debrief following the Argentina tour; and secondly for the players to be introduced to our new two assistant coaches, Mike Brewer and Graham Steadman, ahead of our assembly for the autumn Tests in November," said Hadden.

Former All Blacks captain Brewer will look after the forwards, while ex-Ireland assistant Graham Steadman is a defensive expert.

Both men were recruited in August but this will be their first chance to work with the Scotland players.

Scotland face New Zealand at Murrayfield on 8 November and entertain South Africa in Edinburgh a week later.

The clash with Canada takes place at Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen, on 22 November.
