Newquay Sevens hailed a success

Over 1,000 players turned out to take part in the first rugby Surf Sevens to be held at Newquay over the weekend.

There were 92 teams from all over the world taking part, including the British Army team.

Well-known names such as Mark Mapletoft of the Saracens, plus Brad Hepl of the New Zealand Maori's were also on hand to help launch the event.

The event raised money for three Cornish charities, one of which was the Precious Lives Appeal.
