Simpson had to wait after failing to make the initial cut

Cornwall's top runner Jemma Simpson has finally received her call-up to the British Olympic team.

Simpson, who will compete in the 800m event, had to wait for the news after she did not make it into the initial group of athletes selected.

The 24-year-old's final race before Beijing will be the Norwich Union London Grand Prix - the biggest meeting in the UK athletics calendar.

The Newquay and Par runner will then fly out for training in Macau.
