Cornish Pirates coach Mark Hewitt suffered a rare defeat |
After last Sunday's nine tries against Doncaster, Cornish Pirates did not find South Yorkshire opposition so easy this week in a 20-10 defeat at Rotherham. On a heavy Clifton Lane pitch, the home side's first try from back row forward Barry Jacobsz followed up a penalty kick which fell short of the posts. Chris Cracknell and the boot of National One's top points scorer Gareth Steenson then reduced arrears to 13-10. But Rotherham scored again when hooker Kevin Corrigan went over in added time. It was only the Pirates' second defeat in six games since Mark Hewitt took over as coach following the departure of Jim McKay in late January.
