North Walsham edge near to drop

North Walsham are set for relegation from the National League after losing 20-5 at home to high-flying Mounts Bay.

Despite an impressive display from their forwards, the Vikings could not muster the result they needed against the League Three South leaders.

Barking pulled further clear of Walsham with a 42-15 win over Clifton.

That leaves North Walsham still in the relegation zone five points adrift of safety ahead of their final two games against Ealing and Lydney.

The main positive to take from the game was that Mounts Bay are an impressive side who have lost just twice in 24 games all season, averaging more than 30 points a game in the process. And Walsham did at least manage to put, comparatively, the brakes on.

North Walsham spokesman Tony Marcantonio told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Someone coming into the ground today having no knowledge of who was playing would have been hard pushed to tell who is at the top, and who is at the bottom."
