Jim McKay has been helping coach Redruth in National League Two |
Former Cornish Pirates coach Jim McKay has been helping coach their county rivals Redruth. The Australian, who quit the Pirates in January, has been helping the side as they bid to survive in National Two.
"In this division there's probably more of an imbalance in the league," he told BBC Radio Cornwall after helping Redruth beat Halifax 38-8.
"There's a lot of mistakes and so there's opportunities all over the place."
McKay said his ambition was to coach in the Premiership after he left the Penzance-based club in January.
At the time he told the BBC that he felt he could not take the club any further without a new infrastructure to give it Premiership facilities.
Forwards coach Mark Hewitt took over from McKay on a temporary basis and was given the role full time last month.
