Hodgson and White will fly out on Saturday

Hodgson and White are both recovering after knee reconstruction surgery, and will continue their rehabilitation with renowned American expert Bill Knowles.

The Sale duo were cleared to travel after an agreement was reached between their club, the RFU and the SRU.

They will spend four weeks working with Knowles at his base in Vermont.

Hodgson has worked with Knowles before, during his recuperation from a serious knee injury before the 2003 World Cup.

The American has also worked with former England star Austin Healey, and helped Hill get back to fitness after his knee collapsed during the 2005 Lions tour.

"I am looking forward to working with Bill again," said Hodgson.

"He has some great ideas and it'll be good to freshen things up and have a different voice.

"Sale and England have been great and it's good that Scotland have got involved and that Jason is coming over as well.

"You wouldn't wish injury on anybody but Whitey is a great person to train with and I am sure we will both benefit from being there together."

White added: "Everyone at Sale Sharks and the SRU have done a great job getting me to this point and now I'm looking forward to working with Bill.

"It's all going to be fresh for me and having Charlie there will also be a great help. We have both got a good work ethic and are committed to coming back stronger and better."

Knowles will work with the players for nine hours a day, five days a week.

"They will be doing lower limb rehabilitation for their recent knee injuries but will also be working towards joint club and country cardiovascular and upper-body fitness goals as well," said RFU head of sports medicine and England team doctor Simon Kem.
