Wales scrum-half Dwayne Peel was bitterly disappointed after losing to a clinical Ireland in their RBS Six Nations opener in Cardiff. "We had dominated for large parts of the first half and had played some great rugby, so we were disappointed to come in 12-9 down," Peel said.
"We gave too much ball away in the second half, made too many errors, and in fairness to Ireland they punish you.
"We played some good rugby in patches and some not so good rugby in others."
Wales coach Gareth Jenkins, in his first championship game in charge, agreed that errors had cost them but also saw plus points to build on.
"It is a feeling of frustration at the moment, we got the effort and intensity we wanted but we didn't have the edge," Jenkins said.
"We gave up a couple of easy opportunities, but we battled hard and got back in the game.
"We actually out-performed Ireland in the first half but didn't out-score them.
"We started well in the second half but for a period of 15 minutes they got into our half and got a try out of it, and had the ability to hang on after that."
