Viliami Vaki's previous good record was taken into account |
Pacific Islanders flanker Viliami Vaki has been suspended for three weeks for the dangerous tackle that has all but ended Chris Cusiter's season. Vaki floored the Scotland scrum-half during Saturday's 34-21 defeat in Edinburgh, leaving the British Lion with a dislocated shoulder.
The Tongan, who plays his club rugby for Perpignan in France, was cited by the match commissioner.
And he will miss the touring side's match against Ireland on Sunday.
The disciplinary committee said it had taken into account the player's previous good record and his expressions of remorse for having caused the injury.
Cusiter underwent surgery on Sunday and faces four months on the sidelines.
It means he is likely to miss the Six Nations tournament.
The Pacific Islanders, a representative side from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, hope to end their tour on a high at Lansdowne Road after defeats by Wales and the Scots.
