Cusiter has had a frustrating time with injury |
Scotland and Border Reivers scrum-half Chris Cusiter has been ruled out of action for up to four months with a chest injury. The damage was done in Scotland's final Six Nations win over Italy in March.
Cusiter said: "I'm disappointed because I'll miss Scotland's summer tour to South Africa and the end of a productive season with the Borders.
"I'm just looking forward to putting in a good pre-season and staying optimistic about the future."
The unfortunate Cusiter had to go off after just eight minutes in Rome - his first start of the championship.
In the preceding tournament games, Cusiter had to play second fiddle to Mike Blair and be content with a place on the bench.
At the time, Cusiter told BBC Sport he thought he had torn a pectoral muscle but a series of scans confirmed significant damage previously obscured by the by-products of the initial injury.
