The dislocated shoulder I suffered on Saturday against the Pacific Islanders might have got me down, but it only increases my determination to immerse myself in rehab and get back as soon as I can.

It wasn't quite what I had planned for the weekend as I was so excited about starting the game and I had enjoyed the first 10 minutes.

The last game I started didn't go as planned either - I went off after 10 minutes against Italy in the Six Nations with a pectoral injury - and I was just getting back into the way of things after that.

I also went off against New Zealand after 20 minutes last November with a knee ligament injury.

I didn't think that lightning could strike three times, but it did and hopefully that's my set completed.

At least it is the other shoulder this time and they are just three separate, unlucky incidents that have led to serious injuries.

I spoke to the surgeon and he feels that he has stabilised it and fixed the damage done.

The treatment I have received has been spot on and carrying out the operation so quickly gives me the best chance to get back as fast as I can.

I know people have had worse, but at the moment I am a bit fed up.

It means that I will miss a big chunk of the season and, with the timescale I have been given, it looks like I will miss at least some of the Six Nations.

But I just have to give it as long as it takes to heal.

Our captain, Jason White, has been told that he will be missing for even longer and I feel for him, especially as he has been playing so well.

But injuries like these are part and parcel of professional rugby these days and, in truth, the trick is to remain as positive and focused as you can be in the recovery process that the medical staff supervise.

What this week has shown is that we have some strength in depth in a lot of positions and we have guys coming through who can play well at international level.

We have had two wins in a row this month and we're scoring tries - 11 of them.

It means we should be fairly confident going into Saturday's match against Australia.

They have been trying guys out in new positions and experimenting a bit ahead of the World Cup and they lost to Ireland on Saturday.

But that was in very poor conditions. They are still a very strong and good side and will be out to finish their tour on a high.

We scored four very good tries in the first half against the Pacific Islanders and, in that spell, our play was the best we have produced in a long time.

We are going in the right direction and playing better and better in each game.

The game against Australia has come at the right time and, although we haven't beaten them for 24 years, we have a great chance and hopefully we can take it.
