Sackey and Perry impressed on their debuts despite the scoreline |
England assistant coach Brian Ashton has paid tribute to Shaun Perry, Paul Sackey and Anthony Allen after their baptism of fire against New Zealand. The trio made their debuts in the 41-20 mauling but Ashton said they deserved to stay in the team to face Argentina.
"I'm pleased with all three of them," he told BBC Sport.
"Anthony showed he can handle the pressure, Shaun didn't throw any bad passes and Paul didn't get many chances but took those he did get."

Gloucester centre Allen, 20, had a particularly torrid time, with his intercepted pass just before half-time gifting the All Blacks a try.
But Ashton said the way he responded showed his true class.
"What happened to Anthony just before half-time could have been a recipe for disaster but it wasn't at all," he said.
"That shows he's got that sort of X factor.
"Before he goes out on the pitch, you never know - can he stand up to the game mentally pressure of international rugby? Obviously can, so he's just got to work on tightening up other parts of his game."
Bristol scrum-half Perry also had a tough welcome to the international arena, being harassed by Byron Kelleher early on.
But Ashton said he came through the test with flying colours.
"Shaun had a really tough first 15 minutes, but handled the pressure really well - hopefully now he's got confidence he can transfer his club form to England," he said.
"Paul's an unusual sort of player, but that's right up my street, so he's just got to make sure he does the basics right when the ball is kicked to him. He did that without any problems."
