Lomu suffered a host of injuries following his kidney transplant |
Jonah Lomu has admitted his dream of playing for New Zealand in next year's Rugby World Cup is over after he failed to win a contract in the Super 14. Lomu, 31, is playing for North Harbour two years after a kidney transplant.
"I don't feel I've let anyone down," he told the New Zealand Herald. "I've given it my all.
"It's been a failure in the sense I didn't make the All Blacks but I didn't fail myself. I dared to dream. Who can criticise me for that?"
Lomu, who made his return to rugby in 2004, has started only one match for North Harbour and has yet to score a try.
"I'd be lying if I said I'm not disappointed about not getting a Super 14 contract," said Lomu.
"But I have had a go. I would have been more disappointed if I didn't have a go.
"I didn't want to ask myself in 10 years, 'what if?'"
