Alan Solomons was sacked by Northampton last November |
Former Northampton and Ulster coach Alan Solomons and former London Irish mentor Brendan Venter have been linked to the vacancy for the Leinster post. Solomons was sacked as Saints coach last November while Venter works between his Cape Town medical practice and assisting the Cats Super 12 outfit.
Former Italy coach John Kirwan is a front-runner to take over from Declan Kidney who is returning to Munster.
Lynn Howells, who is a former Welsh forwards' coach, is also in the mix.
He is presently coaching Leonessa in Italy. He was Graham Henry's assistant when the New Zealander was in charge of Wales.
However, a number of people believe that Venter's tough no-nonsense approach to the game would suit the Donnybrook team.
During his four years at London Irish, the former Springbok centre enter knocked the Exiles into a competitive team.
Preliminary interviews are believed to have been held in London last week.
