England fall short in Sevens bid

New Zealand's Roy Kinikinilau celebrates his side's success
England missed out on success at the IRB Sevens in New Zealand after losing in the quarter-finals.

After a disappointing 24-19 defeat to Fiji in the last eight, Mike Friday's side were also edged out 19-17 by Scotland in the Shield semi-finals.

New Zealand went on to win the main competition, beating Argentina 31-7 to build up an eight-point lead over Fiji at the top of the standings.

Australia won the Shield final with a crushing 32-0 defeat of Scotland.
