Former Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell has thanked ex-Warriors star Trent Barrett for his advice about moving to Wigan.

Riddell, 28, has signed a three-year-deal with the Super League club after talking it through with Barrett.

Riddell told BBC Radio Manchester: "I spoke to Trent a fair bit before I signed and even after.

"He is a good mate. The great words he had for the club definitely played a part in me coming here."

He added: "He knew pretty much he wasn't going to be staying here but he had nothing but praise for the club and it was a deciding factor because I have known Trent a long time.

"I have just moved into his old house so that helps, too, he was a big influence."
