Pryce will play his first game of league since October 2006 |
Karl Pryce is set to make his long-awaited Wigan debut in a friendly against Warrington on 28 December. The 22-year-old centre or winger missed the whole of last season with a foot injury after returning to league from his spell in union with Gloucester. "It's been a long, hard year for me," Pryce told Wigan's website. Pryce will be joined by new signing Mark Riddell, while Sean O'Loughlin is set to return from the shoulder injury which kept him out of the World Cup. Richard Mathers, Iafeta Paleaaesina and Joel Tomkins are also expected to play. "The game will be the first opportunity for our supporters to see Mark Riddell in a Wigan shirt, and Karl Pryce is now fully fit and raring to play," said Wigan coach Brian Noble. | 606: DEBATE | "We aim to play as strong a side as possible in the game." Pryce's availability is set to trigger a 25,000 pay-out to Bradford, who kept his registration when he left to join Gloucester in 2006. "It was hard watching the boys going to play and not being able to join in," he added. "The fans were asking week-in, week-out if I was going to be playing so it was a bit frustrating. "I was training by myself for the majority of the time. It was a bonus for me when someone got injured, because it was someone to train with! I had to be patient and I've got the all-clear to pay now." The centre scored 138 points in 52 appearances for Bradford, including 17 tries in 25 appearances in 2005. But Pryce's time at Gloucester was hampered by injury and he made just three first-team appearances for the Cherry and Whites. He also spent time with National League One side Moseley, who have an arrangement with Gloucester which gives them access to the Premiership club's young players.
